This is their third studio album released on 2 February 2013, Produced by the band's vocalist and guitarist Kevin Shields, MBV was the band's first full-length release of original material since Loveless (1991). Part of the album was recorded prior to My Bloody Valentine's breakup in 1997 and additional recording took place following the band's reunion in 2007. Shields declared in 2007 that recording was "3/4's done" and announced MBV's release in November 2012. Critical reaction to MBV was positive.
